A beautiful story of "The Virtue of Honesty"

Suresh was a second-year student in Environmental Studies at a university of repute. He pleaded guilty to academic misconduct, namely plagiarism, and he may face severe disciplinary action. This was his first offence. It consisted of writing an entire project without acknowledging the sources and even without incorporating his own thoughts. He did not start the project until one week before the due date, which was not enough time and so he ended up with internet materials from three different sources, pasting and putting them together as his own. He went to the professor to show his initial draft and was told what he needed to do. He did not take the professor's advice as it seemed like he could get away with his plan. Sometime later the professor handed him a written paper telling him that he plagiarized his paper and got a zero grade. The professor said the Headmaster had been informed and he would call him about an investigation that may result in a suspension or expulsion from the university. This was the worst moment he realized that he had made a horrible mistake and had ignored honesty and integrity. The next day he came to the office with a written apology stating his failure to acknowledge the sources and said that due to a personal health issue, he could not concentrate on the work properly and asked the professor to forgive him and not report his actions. This was a serious offence and he promised not be involved in this again in the future as he realized that dishonesty never pays in the long run.
